Kwadwo Asamoah is set to captain Ghana in their 2019 AFCON qualifiers against Kenya on Saturday in Nairobi.

The 29-year-old is expected to be handed the armband as he marks his return to the Black Stars after a four-year absence.

The Inter Milan is the most senior player in the squad at the moment in the absence of Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew who were both axed by Coach Kwesi Appiah.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey was previously given the role on an interim basis.

Coach Kwesi Appiah sees Asamoah as a leader who can inherit the armband from record goal-scorer Asamoah Gyan.
