Medeama SC needed a late penalty against 10 man AshantiGold to record a 2-1 win at T & A Park in Tarkwa on Saturday.

The Mauve and Yellows broke the deadlock courtesy of a Jason Blay header from Amos Korankye’s cross in the 17th minute.

The Miners restored parity with a 27th minute equalizer through Ivorian Richard Djodi.

Ashgold were however reduced to 10 men before half time after Shafiu Mumuni picked up his second yellow card of the game.

The second half was a case of damage control for the league leaders as Medeama pilled on the pressure.

Kwasi Donsu converted a controversial late penalty to ensure Medeama snatched all three points.
