Kwasi Sibo backs Otto Addo to lead Black Stars at 2026 World Cup
24th October 2025
Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo believes Otto Addo deserves to remain in charge of the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite ongoing debate over the coach’s future.
Addo, 50, guided Ghana to World Cup qualification with a strong finish in Group I, but has faced criticism from sections of the fanbase over the team’s inconsistent performances.
“Personally, I feel he has done a great job… whatever tactics he gives us, when we deliver, we get the results,” Sibo told Joy Sports.
“My personal experience has been great, and I think he is a good guy to lead the nation to the World Cup.”
Since joining the national team setup, Sibo has started all three final qualifiers against Mali in Accra, Central Africa Republic in Morocco and Comoros in Accra, helping Ghana secure top spot and book their ticket to the global showpiece in USA, Canada, and Mexico.
His endorsement adds weight to the argument that Addo’s tactical approach and man-management have earned him the right to lead Ghana into 2026.
The Black Stars will be having a very busy schedule on their calendar despite their non-participation in the 2025 African Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco in December:
- Friendlies vs Japan and South Korea – November 2025
- World Cup Group Draw – December 5, 2025
- FIFA World Cup – Summer 2026
With preparations underway and squad chemistry building, the debate over Addo’s future will be key in shaping Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
