Kwesi Appiah hints at possible Black Stars departure
29th June 2019
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said he is not worried about losing his job ahead of their decisive encounter with Cameroon in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars will face the Indomitable Lions in a must-win game after their unconvincing 2-2 draw with Benin on match day one.
Ghana are currently third in Group F sharing the same point with Benin. Cameroon are leading the pack with three points while Guinea-Bissau lie at the bottom, pointless.
Asked whether he was worried about his job should the four-time winners fail to qualify to the next round, Appiah replied:
“Coaching is risk-taking. Any coach who is afraid of being sacked isn’t a great coach. As a coach, you have to be prepared for anything. Unfortunately, that’s the job we have found ourselves in.”
“For me, I don’t believe in being afraid of whatever happens along the line,” Appiah concluded.
The titanic clash is scheduled to kick off at 5pm today at the Ismailia Stadium.
