Los Angeles FC has reached terms on a new contract with midfielder Latif Blessing that runs through the 2022 season.

The Ghanaian originally arrived in MLS with Sporting Kansas City, joining that club from Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals ahead of the 2017 campaign, and was selected by LAFC with the second pick of the Expansion Draft ahead of their inaugural season.

But it was a move from a wing role to central midfield earlier this year that sparked Blessing's best form, as he made a major impact for the runaway league leaders with his creativity, relentless work rate and ground coverage. He's chipped in three goals and five assists in league play thus far in 2019.

“I know I speak for fans and staff alike that Latif has won everyone over with his infectious energy and play, and he is well-deserving of his new contract,” said LAFC EVP & GM John Thorrington in a club release. “His game continues to grow, and we know he will play an integral part in the club’s success on and off the field moving forward.”
