It appears that former President John Dramani Mahama's letter which was copied to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has sparked another controversy.

On Tuesday, a letter dated January 10, 2017 was released by the former President withdrawing his request to keep his official residence and to use a State bungalow as his office.

Former President John Mahama copied not only President Nana Akufo-Addo in his letter but also the Asantehene.

This seems to have taken a new twist as NPP Communicator; Nana Boakye has questioned the motive of the former President for copying the Asantehene in his withdrawal letter.

There are unconfirmed reports that a meeting may have been held between President Akufo-Addo and Former President John Mahama over the request before it was withdrawn.

Nana Boakye has questioned Mr. Mahama on why he copied the Asantehene.

According to him, Asantehene is the paramount Chief of the Asantes and also very preeminent in the country.

Nana Boakye admonished the former President to leave the Asantehene out of his business.

He described Ex-President Mahama's letter copied to Asantehene as "irresponsible", asking "why do you draw my eminent King into such controversy? For what purpose? I can’t understand it; for what purpose . . . Ffor me, I think it was so irresponsible; so irresponsible.”
