Communications director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says release of beneficiaries of the GHC51.2 million which was wrongly paid to Alfred Agbesi Woyome as judgement debt is fabricated and a diversionary tactics by the NPP.

The New Patriotic Party at a press conference on Monday named General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and his deputy Koku Anyidoho as beneficiaries of the booty.

The list mentioned journalists and musicians as being recipients of Mr Woyome’s “illegal largesse”.

Prior to the NPP’s exposé, former Attorney General Martin Amidu had threatened to disclose some of the beneficiaries if given the opportunity to cross examine the businessman.

Speaking on Peace FM’s political show - “Parliament on Radio”, Solomon Nkansah said the release of the list is intended to distract the media’s attention from the party’s botched attempt to accuse the NDC of hiding some thumb-printed ballot papers in a hotel room in Kumasi.

“The NPP upon realizing they could not defend Wontumi’s fake thumb-printed ballot papers story at the Madison Lodge decided to switch the attention of the populace by hurriedly arranging the press conference to release their so-called list of beneficiaries of Mr Woyome’s money.

“I’m daring executives of the NPP to go to court with the list if they really mean business. If you claim to possess an incriminating evidence against a party in a criminal case, you don’t rush to the media, but you go to court,” Mr Nkansah averred.

He further described as exceptional the level of infrastructure development realized under the Mahama administration, stressing that Ghanaians will give him a resounding victory on Wednesday.
