President John Dramani Mahama has assured the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) that oil revenues allocated for his government’s $10 billion “Big Push” infrastructure programme will be disbursed transparently and managed efficiently.

This assurance was given during a courtesy call by members of PIAC, led by Chairman Constantine K.M. Kudzedzi, to congratulate President Mahama on his re-election and to discuss issues relating to the governance of Ghana’s petroleum revenues.

Outlining his administration’s ambitious vision, President Mahama said the “Big Push” initiative will inject $10 billion into critical infrastructure projects over the next five years—equivalent to $2 billion annually.

The planned investments will focus on strategic sectors such as transportation (including roads and major bridges), education, healthcare, and agricultural development.

In the agricultural sector, the President noted that the programme will support the development of irrigation systems, the establishment of farmer service centres, and the promotion of agribusinesses to enhance productivity and rural livelihoods.

He identified petroleum revenues and mineral royalties as the primary sources of funding for the initiative.

President Mahama commended PIAC for its continued dedication to transparency and accountability in the management of oil revenues, describing the Committee as a model oversight institution worthy of emulation by other resource-rich nations.
