Mahama explains exclusion of Haruna, Muntaka from national campaign team
25th June 2024
National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, John Dramani Mahama has addressed a concern over the composition of the recently-released national campaign team.
The exclusion of two key lawmakers, Haruna Iddrisu (Tamale South MP, former Minority Leader) and Muntaka Mohammed (Asawase MP, former Minority Chief Whip) generated some chatter on social media after the team was announced.
A report by rainbowradioonline.com stated that the former president addressed the matter as part of a statement he delivered at the Upper East Regional NDC Fundraising Dinner on June 22, 2024, at the Akayet Hotel in Bolgatanga.
"Addressing rumours that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak had been sidelined from national campaign teams, he clarified that MPs typically do not serve on national campaign teams as they concentrate on their constituencies, though they may participate in regional campaigns," the report read in part.
The campaign according to GhanaWeb checks has the current Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson as the only MP listed.
