Ghana’s former consul to Dubai, Daniel Osei, has argued that Former President Mahama cannot lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win power in the 2020 elections.

According to him, the NDC should therefore not allow the ex-president to lead them as it may cost them in future.

He further noted that Mahama and his followers, during his term as President, worked against the interest of the NDC and therefore should not be accepted to lead the party.

“If NDC wants to come to power, it is incumbent on them to present a messenger who will come out with a message. Mahama and his gang worked against the party in all the regions and so he should not be accepted by the party,” he said.

Daniel Osei’s comment comes after John Mahama officially declared his intention to contest in the party’s presidential primaries.

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Mahama formally announced his intention to contest as flagbearer of the NDC.

He explained the rationale behind his decision, saying, he owes a duty to God and Ghana to return the NDC to power.

His announcement has since been met with mixed reactions, as many have either expressed their varied opinions on his chances.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday, August 27, 2018, ambassador Osei noted that Mahama, who appointed him consul, does not have the “discipline, focus or the moral turpitude” to be the NDC’s flagbearer for 2020.

He added that there’s no way Mahama, whose life has been characterized by indecision as he stated in his autobiography, can lead the party to victory.
