One Eric Afoakwa has been tried in an Accra High Court and found guilty of charges of defrauding by false pretense, money laundering, forgery of official documents and tax evasion.

The court presided by  Justice Georgina Mensah-Datsa  sentenced Mr  Afoakwa to eight years imprisonment although he was not present in the curt.

He was found guilty and convicted of five out of the six charges and the sentences are to run concurrently.

He has been further directed to pay an amount of  $132,660.00 to the complainant.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office, Office (EOCO) has appealed to the general public to help locate the convict to serve his jail term.

It said persons with information on his whereabouts should contact EOCO on 0243168661 or 0302665559/0302634363 for his arrest.

In a related development, EOCO has declared one Charles Okyere wanted.

He is said to be a friend of Daniel Duku, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Venture Capital Trust Fund.

Charles Okyere has been ordered to report to the anti-graft body on Thursday, January 30, 2019.
