Manchester United have missed the chance to have signed Ghana International Thomas Teye Partey in the summer when he was available for an affordable 43.5 million pounds due to a release clause in his contract.

That exit clause still exist but per reports from Spain it will not last much longer as  Atletico plan to double the clause to £87 million to fend off suitors. They are also aiming to offer him a substantial wage increase.

Partey has been in an incredible form this season making him a mainstay in Diego Simeone's starting eleven with his performance against Real Madrid in the Derby Madrileno attracting admiring glances from the big boys across Europe.

Man united  in summer were heavily linked with a move for Partey, but did not follow up with a dealto Athletico Madrid.

Since then the Ghanaian has been one of Atletico’s top players this season, really stepping up after Rodri’s departure to City.

He scored in their recent Champions League win away at Lokomotiv Moscow.

While his release clause remains at £43.5 million, United have a chance, but with negotiations ‘well underway’ to double it, a move to United seems very unlikely, as it will likely be tied up by January.
