South African Premiership side Maritzburg United are preparing to offer Ghanaian international Richard Ofori a new contract.

The Black Stars goalkeeper’s contract with Maritzburg expires in June next year, making him eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with any team of his choice in less than four months' time.

Ofori is on the wanted-list of PSL giants. Orlando Pirates and a host of other clubs including an unnamed team in Europe.

But fresh reports from the South African media suggest that Maritzburg are trying to tie the Ghanaian to a new deal to avoid losing him for free in January.

"Maritzburg United are preparing to give him an offer better than he was earning before," a close source to the club disclosed to the media.

"There are a number of clubs that have made enquiries about his services and he could leave the club for free in January."

Ofori, in recent months has also been linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns but early signs are that the player might settle for Pirates if his dream of moving overseas doesn't materialize.

Sundowns have already added young shot stopper Ricardo Goss and Jody February to their books for next season.

The Buccaneers, however, could release French goalkeeper Joris Delle after he failed to command regular action with the team this past season.
