The national chairman for Match Commissioners Association Mr Paul Ayamba has assured football fans in Ghana of better performances from referees and match commissioners in the Ghana premier league next season.

According Mr Ayamba who is also the sports master for Kumasi Anglican SHS, the changes that have been made with regards to the rules of the game have been exhausted by referees and match commissioners.

He revealed that regional courses have been organised for all ten regions in Ghana to equip match officials of every little change in football rules.

“As at now there are changes in the rules of the game and the referees have gone through it and the match commissioners are also not left behind. I took it upon myself to organise regional courses for all the ten regions so my hope is that we will go into this league competition very prepared and equipped with the knowledge of the new rules of the game” he said

Reflecting on last season’s performances by match officials, he stated that there was never an easy match but per the matches that he oversaw, the performances were encouraging.

“Honestly speaking there is no easy match because when you go the expectations of the spectators at home is different and the pressure on the players at home is also another matter so there is no match that you can say I went and it was so easy. But whatever be the case, all the matches that I attended it came out neat” he said

He heaped praises on match commissioners from the southern sector for pulling three nominations in the upcoming Premier League Board Awards staged for Friday, December 16 2016.

“Three of them have been nominated, two of them from the Ashanti region and one from Brong-Ahafo. I think the southern sector has done well and we hope for better time among all”

He urged Ghanaian football lovers to expect the best of the Ghana Premier league next season owing to the recent sponsorship package the Ghana Football Association has reached with Startimes.

“We should expect the best because according to the GFA president Mr Nyantakyi we are going to get a new sponsorship with Startimes and that is going to improve coverage, participation and officiating and at the end of the day the flair of the soccer game will come back to our stadia. Once we get the sponsorship I think we are on our way to the top and it will be the best for Ghana football” he concluded.
