Mexican club Santos Laguna, have completed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Clifford Aboagye ahead of the start of the 2020 LIGA MX season.

The 25-year old playmaker sealed the move to the Liga MX champions following an explosive loan spell at Querétaro FC.

The former Ghana U20 captain has taken Mexican football by storm since he joined Atlas on loan from Spanish side Granada in 2017.

The once promising midfielder, after being awarded with the Bronze Ball at the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2013, moved from Ghanaian side Inter Allies FC to Udinese Calcio in the Italian Serie A.

Aboagye is characterized by his speed in midfield and his projection in attack. The former Inter Allies star, becomes the first African player to reach the first team of Club Tijuana.

However, he will not be the first on his continent to belong to the Institution of the Northern Border of Mexico, since Nigerian midfielder, Mark Tanko , who joined Club Tijuana Basic Forces in 2015, and although he appeared on the bench in a couple of COPA MX matches, he did not have the opportunity to debut with the Xoloitzcuintle first team.

In Atlas, the talented Ghanaian attacking midfielder scored three goals and provided six assists in 71 games before being sent on loan to Querétaro FC, where he has contributed a goal in 33 matches
