Mid-Year Budget: Ghana not fully recovered, but hope is in sight – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has acknowledged that while Ghana has not fully emerged from its economic challenges, there are clear signs of progress under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

Delivering the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 24, Dr. Forson admitted the scale of the economic crisis inherited by the current administration but expressed confidence in the ongoing recovery efforts.

“Mr. Speaker, there is still more work to be done. President Mahama is determined to deliver,” he told lawmakers.

He cautioned against complacency, stating that although gains have been made, the country is not yet in the clear.

“We are not out of the woods! It will be premature to make that pronouncement,” he warned.

Despite the challenges, the Finance Minister struck an optimistic tone, assuring Ghanaians that the government remains on course to steer the country toward recovery.

“The good news is that today, hope is in sight, and we are determined to navigate the country out of the terrible storm we inherited,” he said.

Dr. Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to stabilising the economy, restoring investor confidence, protecting livelihoods, and building a strong foundation for long-term growth.

“Insha Allah, H.E. President John Mahama will deliver!” he concluded.
