The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of eight distinguished Ghanaians in a tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The victims of the crash include:


  • Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, former Minister of Defense

  • Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation

  • Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

  • Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former Deputy National Chairman of the NDC

  • Samuel Aboagye, former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East

  • Squadron Leader (Rtd.) Peter Bafemi Anala

  • Flying Officer (Rtd.) Malin Twum-Ampadu

  • Sgt. (Rtd.) Ernest Addo Mensah

In an official statement, MIIF paid tribute to the fallen leaders, describing them as “fathers, husbands, mentors, and pillars of democracy” whose lives were defined by unwavering patriotism and service to Ghana.

The Fund offered special commendation to Dr. Omane Boamah for his contributions to national security and to Dr. Murtala Mohammed for his tireless work in environmental protection and technological progress.

“It is a painful and tragic irony that these selfless individuals, who dedicated their lives to protecting and serving Ghana, met their untimely deaths while still in active service,” the statement read.

MIIF extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and to the entire nation as it mourns the loss of these dedicated public servants.
