The Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Kweku Botwe, has condemned the pockets of violence and mayhem recorded in some parts of the country following the announcement of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominations.

In Chereponi, over 10 persons have been arrested for vandalizing some properties following the nomination of Zuwera Mada Nashiru as the area’s District Chief Executive.

Speaking to sit-in host, Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Dan Botwe said it's uncharacteristic for NPP members to "think of self" and not the interest of the party or the nation.

"All of these things give a bad name to the party and so if we want the best interest of the party we should put aside our personal feelings and wishes and work in the interest of the party . . . If they’re truly NPP members they should believe in sacrifice and selflessness and put the party first. We need to condemn these actions," he stated.
