Team Ghana had a day to forget on Wednesday 21st August 2019 after the Men’s football team tasted defeat after their 2-1 win over Burundi in their opening game.

The national U-20 side representing the Ghana at the all African games lost out to Senegal by a lone goal.

This means Ghana will have to win their last game against Mali in the last group game or forget about progression in the tournament.

As it stands now Mali top the group with four points followed Senegal with Ghana third on three points with Burundi languishing at the bottom with no point.

In weightlifting Henrietta Armah failed to progress to the semifinals after losing 24-14 to Ivorian Coulibaly Bouma Farimata in the female 49kg category.

The Ghanaian reached the quarters after going past Seik Sokna Diarra Bousso of Senegal 29-8.

It’s the second time Henrietta has lost out to the Ivorian after been beating in the Semifinals at the first Nigerian open in January this year.

On Friday Kaizer Gbese and team captain Selassie Damale will mount the mat in the men’s 63kg and the women’s 49kg respectively.
