Nii Okai Laryea, the Member of Parliament for Amasaman, has promised to build a kindergarten and a primary school for the people of Dome Sampaman.

The gesture is to save the over 200 children from Dome Sampaman, a community near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region, from travelling to Adjen Kotoku, Kwashiekumah and Dobro Gonno to attend school.

He said the schools, when completed, would also contribute to effective teaching and learning.

Nii Laryea gave the assurance during the celebration of the Homowo Festival of the chiefs and people of Sampaman in the Ga West District.

Homowo, which means hooting at hunger, is celebrated by the Ga-Dangmes in the Greater Accra Region. It is characterised by the sprinkling of Kpokpoi and palmnut soup to signify their gratitude to the gods for blessing them with bumper harvest.

Nii Laryea promised to re-gravel the 10 kilometre feeder road from Abenase to Sampaman and use his MP's Common Fund to sponsor the projects.

He commended Nii Kojo Sampa VI, the Chief of Sampaman, for offering land for the school project and called on other chiefs to emulate his example to bring about development in their communities.

He said such contributions from community leaders encouraged governments to provide assistance to better the lots of the people.

Nii Sampa pledged to provide 20 bags of cement while Nii Amartey, the Youth Leader of the town, promised GH¢10,000 towards the school project.

Nii Sampa appealed to the Amasaman Municipal Assembly, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to support the project.

Nii Amartey gave the assurance that the youth are ready to provide communal labour and called on citizens at home and abroad to contribute either cash or in kind towards project.
