MTN apologises for network outage

MTN Ghana has apologised to its customers who were affected by a network outage that occurred on December 14, assuring the over million subscribers of reliable services.
The Wednesday evening outage was as a result of a technical Internet Protocol problem, which affected some of its sites, thus disrupting voice and data services, the company said.
The telecommunication Giant had all its services shut down with customers unable to make calls, send text messages or access internet through their phones.
Mobile money services also went off, indicating a major a major technological shutdown.
However, the company in a statement signed by the Corporate Services Executive, Mrs Cynthia Lumor, has commended its Engineers for working quickly to resolve the problem and fully restoring the affected sites in less than two hours,whiles apologizing for the inconveniences
'Our engineers continue to work hard to isolate the root cause and put measures in place to prevent recurrence," the statement read.
The statement said the Management would provide further updates in the course of the day and that the company remained committed to providing reliable services to its cherished customers.
The service problem was experienced from about 20:49 GMT and was fully restored around 22:20 GMT.
