MTN Ghana  has received over a 1000 demos  uploaded on the MTN Hitmaker App following the launch of MTN Hitmaker Season 7 at MTN House in Accra barely  a week ago.

Registration and upload of demos for Hitmaker ‘hopefuls’ is opened for a period of three weeks after which they will be reviewed by renowned “Beat Makers” who will shortlist contestants for the live auditions.

The shortlisted contestants will be camped and trained by a technical team made up of voice coaches, choreographers, music directors, image stylists and many more experts in the field.

Contestants will be taken through breathing exercises, speech improvements, pitch and inflections, singing and rapping in key and other techniques required to prepare them for the entertainment industry.

After the boot camp, 12 finalists will be unveiled to compete for the ultimate prize of 100,000 in a 13 week eviction show.

Commenting on Season 7 of the MTN Hitmaker competition, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer for MTN, Mr. Guido Sopiimeh expressed MTN’s satisfaction with the success achieved with the Hitmaker competition since it was launched 6 years ago.

He said, “MTN is an enabler that creates the platform for upcoming artistes to show the world who they are and what they have. Through Hitmaker, we have  discovered great talents and we believe Hitmaker 7 will bring out equally gifted musicians.”

He added that this year, the competition has been designed to allow contestants to promote themselves using MTN platforms on social media and other digital channels.

“We are doing this to encourage the use of digital marketing by the young musicians. This is the current practice and we want to carry these musicians along with us on the digital journey”.

The MTN Hitmaker is an original talent hunt reality show opened to Ghanaians who believe they have the talent, flair, confidence, style and attitude for stardom in the music world.

MTN Hitmaker has produced music talents such as Naterial (Season 1 Winner) Koo Ntakra (Season 2 winner), Togbe, (Season 3 winner), Kidi (Season 4 winner) KurlSongz (Season 5 winner) and Freda Rhymes (Season 6).

Another music icon who is a former Hitmaker contestant and currently making waves in the music industry is Lynx Entertainment’s icon, Kuami Eugene (MTN Hitmaker Season 5 contestant).

Kidi, winner of season 4 and Kuami Eugene received recognition at the 2018 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. Kidi won the Highlife Song of the Year while Kuami Eugene picked up two awards: Highlife Song of the Year and Best New Artiste of the year.

MTN considers the Hitmaker programme an important contribution to the development and promotion of rich genres of music in Ghana.
