Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has sealed a move to ambitious Chinese side Shenzhen FC after leaving cash strapped Jiangsu Suning as a free agent.

The combative midfielder joins his new Chinese outfit on a four year bumper contract that will expire in 2025.

Wakaso departed defunct Jiangsu Sunning whose parent company Sunning holdings same owners of Italian giants Inter Milan earlier in the year announced that they were folding up due to financial constraints to concentrate on their core business.

He made just 18 appearances after joining his new side from Spanish side Deportivo Alaves in January 2020 before the club went burst.

The Sunning group entered into financial difficulties with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and have folded up its hugely successful men's football club and the women's football club as well.

The former Ashantigold midfielder will reportedly be on an annual salary of 2 million dollars a year.

He has not played active club football for well over six months after football was shut down in China due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He will team up with compatriot Frank Acheampong who has also signed for the Chinese side.

Shenzhen is very ambitious - a big spending club who signed Alan Kardec as well - a Brazilian who played for Chongqing last season and who was one of the most prolific strikers in the Chinese Super League in recent years.
