Deportivo Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was applauded by all four corners of the Mendizorroza Stadium when he was substituted in their 1-1 against Sevilla on Sunday evening.

The Ghanaian international returned to the team after the shoulder injury he had three weeks ago in the win against Villarreal.

The 28 year old played with tremendous intensity and received a standing ovation from the fan’s when he substituted in the 74th minute with the score at 1-0 in their favor.

Sevilla equalized four minutes later through Ben Yedder who decisively touched Pablo Sarabia's cross past the goalkeeper.

The result meant that Sevilla slid down to second place in the standings on 27 points after 14 games while Alaves are fourth with 24, one point above fifth-placed Real Madrid.
