Recruits in the government programme Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) will begin work on November 1 this year.

As part of measures by the government to reduce unemployment rate in Ghana, 100,000 youth have been passed out under NABCO.

The teeming youth will be deployed to various sectors of the economy to learn on the job as well as help enhance the sectors leading to a sustainable growth of the nation.

Delivering a speech at a ceremony held at the Independence Square to pass out the recruits, President Nana Akufo-Addo explained that the NABCO programme represents the beginning of "the process of banishing the spectre of desperation, and restoring hope and dignity to our youth.”

Providing additional information on how the programme will work, Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide noted on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' that the recruits are expected to officially commence work on Thursday, November 1, 2018, which will eventually span for three years.

"We feel it's appropriate for the recruits to begin on 1st November since this month is already elapsing".

Hon. Enam Hadzide also assured that the government has put pragmatic measures in place to ensure it doesn't falter in the payment of allowances to the recruits for their services.

He commended President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia for making the programme a success but hoped the module will be reviewed to absorb more people going forward.
