School feeding caterers across the country have threatened to hit the seat of the Presidency with their planned naked demonstration over unpaid arrears.

About 134 contracted school feeding caterers who were engaged by the previous government in 2016 with appointment letters to offer meals for school pupils across the country are calling on government to pay their accumulated arrears which they claim has yielded to about sixty million Ghana Cedis.

At a press conference held in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, the leader of the caterers who doubles as the spokesperson, Madam Monica Terlarbi disclosed that it has become unbearable for them to cope with the situation since bankers and other debtors are chasing them for loans they acquired.

She enumerated that caterers are finding it difficult to settle the huge loans they contracted to enable them buy foodstuffs and other cooking ingredients to render school feeding services to students.

Madam Monica Terlabi hinted that several efforts made by the leadership of the caterers to get their monies paid remain futile.

They believe that the gender, children and social protection ministry is not making any serious effort to get the caterers paid with their accumulated arrears.

She further emphasized that the Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba claimed government has settled all arrears regarding to school feeding caterers, but the caterers said there is nothing to that effect.

Madam Monica Terlabi told newsmen that the National Coordinator for the School Feeding Program has also turned death ears to their concerns and they have also decided to petition the finance ministry.

They are therefore issuing a two weeks ultimatum to government to settle their accumulated arrears to avoid any embarrassment.
