Ghana’s President-elect, Nana Akufo Addo has revealed that his government will relocate the headquarters of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) to the Western region.

This is one of the promises Nana Addo made during his campaign tour ahead of the December elections.

Speaking to chiefs of the region on his ‘thank you’ tour he said all campaign promises will be fulfilled.

“We are going to relocate the headquarters of GNPC to this region. Pledges of one district one factory is going to happen live, modernisation of the Takoradi Harbour is going to be done, Construction of an Accident and Emergency Centre in Takoradi is on plan.”

Many people have often called for decentralisation and asked that some public offices be relocated to other parts of the country.

He said he will deliver on his promise of making the Western region the oil and gas hub of the country upon the assumption of office.

Nana Addo further added that modalities for the creation of the proposed Western-North region will be drafted and put to a referendum during the next District Assembly Elections in 2018.

Meanwhile, the president of the Western Regional House of Chiefs Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II congratulated Nana Addo and asked him to focus on the job. He also entreated him to also deliver on his promises he made during his campaign tour.
