The first Saturday of every month will no longer be observed as a National Sanitation Day as the Vice President, His Excellency Mahamadu Bawumia has revealed the government's intention to make the first Saturday of month a 'National keep fit day'

Addressing a huge crowd at the end of the ’Ghana @60 health walk’ the astute economist touched on the need for the Ghanaian populace to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy living. According to him the turnout for the walk is a reflection of the willingness of Ghanaians to remain healthy.

He also commended the masses who turned up for the walk and called on them to make exercising and keeping fit a habit.

"We are commemorating Ghana @60 and today we are doing a health walk. I want you all to give yourself a clap for a very productive walk. You’ve done very well. We have walked and we have shown that we as a nation want to be healthy.

"That’s the message, if we are healthy in body, we will be healthy in mind and we will able to move this country forward. This walk will not be a one-off thing, the first Saturday of every month will be observed as a fitness day’’.
