According to the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Command in its investigations so far has established that the suspect who is at large with the other  suspects was behind the shooting and killing of the deceased.

ASP Ahianyo in an interview on Accra based Kasapa FM said:“…Warrior actually shot and killed the deceased and injured the other person at the hospital.”

ASP Godwin Ahianyo added that five other suspects are on the Police radar and being pursued by the Command.

Police reports say, alleged members of pro-National Democratic Congress group, the Hawks, are suspected to be behind the attack at the Ashanti Regional NDC office in Kumasi that left one dead and one other injured.

The shooting is said to have happened when the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and the Regional Executive Committee met at the regional office.

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia on Monday, 18 February 2019 said the party will not safeguard any member associated with the shooting incident that took place during the party’s high-powered meeting in Kumasi.

Wasiu Iddrisu was gunned down Monday in an altercation with a fellow member of pro-NDC vigilante group – The Hawks – within the precinct of the NDC Ashanti regional office with several others sustaining injuries.

Another victim, identified as Abdul Rahman, who was also shot by the gun-wielding thugs, is in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
