Black Queens striker Sandra Owusu Ansah's footballing career is in limbo due to a chronic knee injury suffered on national assignment turning septic.

The attacker suffered the gruesome injury at the 2014 World Women Under 17 Champions in Costa Rica while representing the Black Maiden's.

But concealed it and played with it several times for the national teams and her club side.

Sandra captained the Black Maidens at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in Jordan.

Narrating her ordeal in an interview with Kumasi based Angel FM, she said “I got injured at the under 17 World Cup in Costa Rica; it was not severe as it is now so I concealed it and went ahead to play the next world cup in Jordan and then at the under 20 level at Papua New Guinea under Coach Masuud Didi Dramani and then in France”,

The 19 year old further aggravated her chronic knee in 2018 while playing for then club side Zouk Mosbeh Girls FC in the final match of the Lebanese League missing the 2018 African Women's Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.

She has since been nursing the injury to no avail as doctors have advised her surgery is needed to correct the anomaly rendering her unable to play football missing several lucrative chances and opportunities.

Several attempts to authorities of the Ghana Football Association to try and help her raise the needed GH S 20,000 for the surgery has failed to yield any fruitful results despite numerous assurances from coaches and some top football people.

“All the coaches and doctors at the national teams know of the situation and have promised to help me undergo a surgery to correct the anomaly, but no help has been forthcoming”, she said.

“I have spoken with the authorities at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the team doctor but funds are yet to be released as promised”, she revealed.
