The Manya Krobo Traditional Council has described as misleading the banner headline of Friday 4th November, 2016 edition of The Chronicle with the caption ‘ We Are Tired of NDC Excuses’ attributed to the Konor of Manya Krobo traditional area, Nene Sakite ll.
Commenting on the embarrassing headline, the spokesman of the traditional council, Nene Asada Ahor who doubles as chief of Akuse said that the council wishes to first apologise and dissociate itself from the headline by The Chronicle which did not in any way commensurate with the main story carried by the paper’s hardworking Eastern Regional correspondent, Isaac Akwetey.

Nene Asada Ahor appealed to The Chronicle to revert to its original standard, which values made the paper a leading private print medium for communicating and thereby attracted readership by all and sundry.

In a related development, the chief of Akuse has appealed to the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ministry of Interior to come to the aid of the people of Akuse by constructing drainage system and rehabilitating the local police station, which serves residents within Akuse and its environs.

According to him, Akuse is on low ground and that due to the absence of proper drainage system, each time it rains, the entire township gets flooded. He entreated the VRA with one of its two dams on river Volta situated at Akuse and staff accommodation in the town to treat the drainage problem as a corporate social responsibility

On the issue of the 1911 built Akuse police station, Nene Asada Ahor said that the state of the structure is not only an eyesore but also dangerous for human habitation but this is where the police and inmates find themselves

He went on to say that it is a pity to see both duty men at the charge office and inmates sometimes praying for rains to stop not because they do not need it but due to the leakages on the one storey colonial structure

The chief stated that as a result of the dilapidated nature of the police station, Akuse is not attractive to personnel who view the place as punishment ground.
