A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked national concern, showing a group of students from the Winneba Technical Institute openly displaying and brandishing weapons within the school’s premises.

The footage captures several male students parading with what appear to be knives and other dangerous objects, with no sign of supervision or intervention from school authorities.

The video, which has since gone viral, has provoked widespread condemnation from the public, with many questioning the state of discipline and safety in educational institutions.

The incident is particularly alarming in light of recent events involving school violence. The public is still reeling from the case of Suzzy Pinamang, a student of an SDA school, who is recovering after being injured in an attack that involved a fellow student bringing a weapon onto campus.

Education and child safety advocates are now calling for immediate action from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and law enforcement agencies to investigate the situation at Winneba Technical Institute and to prevent similar occurrences elsewhere.

Some social media users have also expressed concern about what they see as a growing trend of violence and indiscipline among students, urging schools to strengthen security protocols and psychological support services.

As of now, school authorities and regional education officials have not publicly responded to the video.

However, there is increasing pressure for disciplinary action and a comprehensive investigation into how these weapons came to be on school grounds, as well as the reasons behind students feeling empowered to display them openly
