Legendary Ghanaian music producer, Edward Nana Poku Osei, widely known as Hammer has slammed organizers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for awarding the most popular song of the year to Fancy Gadam's 'Total Cheat'.

According to the boss of the Last Two, the category of the most popular song of the year should be by merit and not by votes adding that Swedru-based artiste, Patapaa Amisty deserved the “Most Popular Song of the Year” award at this year.

Hammer indicated that the VGMA Board has compromised “the legitimacy of the awards just for the coins [money] you’ll make from votes”.

The Swedru based artiste angrily stormed out of the Accra International Conference Center after losing out on the ‘Song of the Year’ category at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on Saturday April 14.

The ‘One Corner’ hitmaker, who lost out to Fancy Gadam in the ‘Song of the Year’ category at the 2018 VGMAs  angrily walked out of the Auditorium when Fancy Gadam was announced the winner

Reacting to events from Saturday night, the music producer who has been behind the success of some top Ghanaian musicians including Edem and Sarkodie stated that Charterhouse should review the process of the category to avoid such unfair circumstances.

He wrote; “How do u vote for the most popular song of the year… Popular means popular period. This shld be unanimous by the board and academy… Backed by data from radio stations. u can’t ask to vote for this! That’s how u end up with the wrong song. Cos votes can be bought.. just buy loads of credits get your team to embark on Heavy voting. This means u compromise the legitimacy of the awards just for the coins you’ll make from votes. NOT FAIR… No song was bigger than one corner in 2017.. why u dey play with ppls struggle and hustle? The boy chop the thing hands down. Stop playing with ppls hard work and emotions. NOT COOL
