November 2025 Economic Growth hits 4.2% — Government Statistician
12th February 2026
Ghana’s economic activities expanded by 4.2 percent in November 2025, according to the Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu.
He disclosed this while presenting the Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG) for November 2025 on Thursday, February 12.
Dr. Iddrisu stated that the MIEG index for November 2025 stood at 122.7, compared to 117.7 recorded in November 2024, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 4.2 percent. He noted that month-on-month growth is not reported because the index is not seasonally adjusted.
The services sector was the main driver of growth during the period, contributing 57.7 percent to the overall 4.2 percent expansion in economic activity. Agriculture accounted for 32.4 percent of the growth, while industry contributed 2.5 percent.
Providing a sectoral breakdown, Dr. Iddrisu said agriculture recorded a growth rate of 4.1 percent between November 2024 and November 2025, largely driven by increased crop production and fishing activities.
The services sector expanded by 6.7 percent over the same period, reinforcing its position as the leading contributor to economic growth.
However, growth in the industrial sector slowed significantly, recording 0.4 percent in November 2025 compared to 6.2 percent in November 2024. According to the Government Statistician, the slowdown reflects a contraction in mining and quarrying activities, mainly due to reduced upstream petroleum output compared to the same period last year.
