NPP MP calls for delegates system to be scrapped
11th December 2024
Kennedy Osei Nyarko, MP for Akyem Swedru, proposed six reforms to rebuild the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after its 2024 electoral defeat.
He urged the party to replace its delegate system with universal voting for all card-bearing members in internal elections, limiting elections to selecting a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates while eliminating national, regional, and polling station elections.
Nyarko's recommendations follow the party’s loss to the NDC, which he attributes to public dissatisfaction with Nana Akufo-Addo’s leadership, sparking calls for a complete overhaul of the NPP.
