Business mogul Daniel Korsina has been elected as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary candidate in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region.

He polled 338 votes against his contender, Dr Yirenkyi who had 290 votes to clinch victory in Saturday's primaries held at Tepa Amanya amidst heavy security presence.

Mr Korsina in his victory speech congratulated his contender, Dr Yirenkyi, for the fierce contest and promised to work hand in hand with him for the common good.

He assured of deploying all resources at his disposal to deliver the Biakoye parliamentary seat to the governing NPP.

"I am prepared to work with Dr Yirenkyi so we can win the Biakoye seat in 2020", Mr Korsina said.

On his part, Dr Yirenkyi also pledged his support for the party and the candidate elect to wrestle the seat from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP held primaries in all 100 orphan constituencies Saturday to elect candidates for the 2020 elections.

‘Orphan constituencies’, refer to areas where the party lost the 2016 Parliamentary Elections to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and, therefore, has no sitting Members of Parliament.
