The Ayawaso East Constituency NPP is set to launch its campaign team this Sunday, July 21st, in a high-profile event aimed at capturing the long-held opposition seat.

Vice President Dr. Mahmud Bawumia and parliamentary candidate Zak Rahman will lead the inauguration at the Nima Social Centre, marking the party's most ambitious bid yet for this crucial constituency ahead of the December 2024 elections.

The event, themed "Working Together to Make It Possible" serves as a crucial step for the NPP in its bid to capture the Ayawaso East seat, a constituency that has eluded the party since the return of multi-party democracy in 1993. According to the Parliamentary candidate, the day will mark the official beginning of a historic campaign in Ayawaso East.

"We're fully prepared and energised for this crucial event," Rahman stated.

"Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that this inauguration marks the beginning of a historic campaign in Ayawaso East. We're not just launching a campaign; we're igniting a movement for positive change in our constituency."

Several party gurus are also expected to attend, adding to the significance of the event.

The NPP's strategy appears to be twofold: securing the parliamentary seat while also boosting the party's presidential votes in the area. This dual focus underscores the importance of Ayawaso East in the party's broader electoral calculations for 2024.

Rahman emphasised the party's commitment to Zongo communities, a key demographic in the constituency. "For too long, our Zongo communities have been overlooked," he asserted.

"The NPP has a comprehensive plan for Zongo development, from education to infrastructure. It's time for Ayawaso East to experience the progress that other NPP constituencies have enjoyed. We're not just asking for votes; we're offering a partnership for prosperity."

The presence of Dr Bawumia, himself a prominent figure from the North and a Muslim, is expected to resonate strongly with the constituency's voters. His involvement signals the national importance the NPP is placing on this local race.

As the NPP prepares to break new ground in Ayawaso East, the inauguration on Sunday is shaping up to be more than just a campaign launch.

It represents a bold statement of intent from a party determined to expand its electoral map and challenge long-held political assumptions.

The party faces a tough task in the upcoming elections after eight years in power. Its ability to translate this enthusiastic kickoff into success could well be a bellwether for their electoral victory at both constituency and national level.
