Local government expert and a founding member of the National Democratic Congress Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi argues the NPP’s proposal of ‘One Factory-One District’ is not feasible.

According to him, the extension of electricity, water, building of roads, schools, and hospitals are necessary foundations for the building of a workable system of factories.

“Without roads, electricity, water and all that President Mahama is building across the country how would factories work?" Prof. Ahwoi quizzed.

Again he wondered how the proposal would be executed in reality when places like Tema already have over 400 factories.

“Does that mean Tema will receive a factory too?” the veteran politician queried.

Speaking at the NDC's campaign rally in Brosankro in the Tano South constituency of the Brong Ahafo region the seasoned academic and politician also questioned the New Patriotic Party's basis for criticising the NDC's appointment of young people into government.

He referred the teeming crowd to history when Dr Kwame Nkrumah, President JJ Rawlings and even himself were at the helm of national affairs at their youth. “It is therefore unfounded for them to keep looking down on the NDC for being a youthful party,” Prof. Ahwoi noted.

He appealed to the supporters to vote massively for Mahama come the December 7 elections.
