Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare has sealed a transfer to Belgian Jupiler Pro League side RFC Seraing in the current winter transfer window.

He joins his new club on a free transfer after leaving fellow Belgian side Zulte Waregem some months ago.

The former AshantiGold, Real Madrid defender has been training with the Belgian side since December last year and has managed to convince the club that he deserves a contract.

Opare has signed an 18 month contract with his new side and will be hoping to start going with his new team.

“I feel great and can't wait to take on this new challenge! I have maintained my condition solo since leaving Zulte, especially with a physical trainer in Germany. I miss the rhythm of the meetings, but I am convinced that it will come back quickly. ”

The Ghanaian defender has been handed the number 40 jersey at his new club.

“Number 4 is my favorite number, but 4 and 44 were already taken.” he adds, before talking about his new partners. “I saw the team play and there is really quality. There really isn't much missing to reach the club's goal. I already knew Bernier from Antwerp and Cissé from Standard. It's a young group and they really want to. I will try to bring them my experience. ”

Having arrived in Belgium eleven years ago, Daniel feels like a fish in water here.

“I live in Liège. It has become my home! ”

Born on October 18, 1990, Daniel can boast of a magnificent career, between his stints at Real Madrid, Porto, Standard de Liège, Besiktas Istanbul, Augsburg, Antwerp and recently, Zulte-Waregem.
