Nana Wiafe Akenten (lll) the Offinsomanhene and his entourage on Monday, 21, visited some of the accident victims at the St. Patrick's Hospital to commiserate with them and also get firsthand information from them.

The Omanhene extended his condolences to the families of those who perished in the Offinso fatality on Kumasi-Techiman highways on Saturday.

Nana Wiafe Akenten also wished the survivors, some of whom sustained various degrees of injuries, a speedy recovery.

The Offinso Paramount Chief speaking in an exclusive interview with Time FM's Omono Asamoah, the chief charged the Ministry of Roads and Transport and highways engineers to provide adequate road signs at areas prone to accident.

The Omanhene of Offinso Traditional Area again appealed to the ministry to have their deplorable roads in the municipality fixed.

The traditional leader in his appeal made mention of the Samproso road and Offinso bypass roads linking other communities.

He cautioned traders operating in illegal locations in the municipality especially, at the Offinso tollbooth to be extra vigilante as their activities posed a threat to their personal safety.

It could be recalled that, at least eight out of thirty-six young footballers from Offinso in the Ashanti Region were reported dead in a horrific accident on Saturday around 3pm in the afternoon while traveling in a KIA Pregio car with registration number AS-928-19.

The speeding KIA Pregio vehicle carrying the 36 youth footballers of Africa Vision Soccer Academy veered off the road and fell into the Offin river killing six of them instantly before two later died at the hospital.
