The Paramount Chief of Offinso Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, has advised residents of Offinso and all Ghanaians voters who registered for the new voters' identification card to massively engage themselves in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise.

Speaking to exclusively to Time FM's Omono Asamaoh Katakyie Barima at his residence, Nana Wiafe Akenten said the exercise will help guarantee the power of Ghanaian eligible voters to fully participate in the December 7th general elections.

Meanwhile, the Offinsomanhene cautioned against turning the exhibition centres into war grounds.

According to him, there have been instances where members of the two major political parties; ie: the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) show hooliganism, which eventually leads to loss of lives of innocent souls and cause destruction to properties.

He pleaded with all Ghanaians to desist from the unnecessary arguments or misunderstanding and use of abusive words at each other in the exhibition exercise.

The chief again urged participants to obey the Covid-19 protocols at the various centres.

Nana Wiafe Akenten IIl used the opportunity to advise the youth in Zongo communities not to avail themselves to be used by politicians to orchestrate violence and election malpractices to ensure a peaceful exhibition exercise and a successful election this year.

In addition, he called on the various political parties especially, to avoid the use of insults during their campaigns and presentations on all media platforms across the country.

He stressed that having a different political ideology should not generate political enmity amongst ourselves, emphasizing that Ghana's 1992 Constitution gives power to every citizen the right and freedom to belong to his preferred political party.

The Offinsomanhene finally sent a strong caution to chiefs in the country to stop endorsing political parties as they call on them to maintain their hard-earned respect and moreover, consider the development of their enclaves for a better living.

The voter exhibition exercise which commenced Friday, September 18, is scheduled to end on Friday, September 25, 2020.
