Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Allotey Jacobs is insisting embattled National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is the only person who can set himself free.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is currently standing trial in court for conspiracy to assault a public officer and conspiracy to cause harm after he was secretly recorded outlining plans to denigrate the ruling government among others.

Recently, there were reports that he was arrested by a team of police officers in Accra at the residence of a member of NDC at Cantonments following a bench warrant secured by the police from court to pick him up.

The NDC however, the party denied his arrest.

A statement issued by party's General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito said the National Chairman "tendered himself to the office", after which the security officials "proceeded to search" his house.

But hearing his comment on the issue during a panel discussion on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Allotey Jacobs said, Ofosu Ampofo "knows best what he should do to clear his name."
