Okoe Vanderpuije retains Ablekuma South constituency seat for NDC

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije has been victorious in the 2020 polls.
Okoe Vanderpuije won the seat with 36,896 votes while his main contender, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Bernard Brown had 23,198 votes.
This is the second time Okoe Vanderpuije who run a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress is winning the seat. He first won the seat in the 2016 general elections.
Also, John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the NDC polled 35,489 in the constituency to beat the NPP candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who polled 23,760.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Okoe Vanderpuije thanked his constituents and promised to do more to develop the constituency.
“To be declared the winner in the parliamentary elections as the MP-elect for Ablekuma south, I want to use this opportunity to thank the people of Ablekuma South for voting for me. I thank my opponent and his party. It is my prayer and hope that we will all live together as the great people of Ablekuma South. We have work to do here. I will continue to represent everyone in our great parliament.”
“I look forward to the election of my presidential candidate, former President John Mahama as the next president of Ghana and when that happens, the people of Ablekuma South will see great development here,” he added.
