Gender Minister-designate, Otiko Afisa Djaba has denied ever endorsing Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong’s sex-for-job claim against the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei.

Speaking to the Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday,The NPP women organiser said the call was to have the allegation  investigated, adding that  her comment was rather misconstrued.

“I’ll be the last person to do that because I myself have been a victim of such allegation,” she said.

“What I said at the time that Hon Kennedy Agyapong made the allegation [was that] I said that Madam Charlotte Osei, because of her position – the first woman to occupy that seat and the fact that she needed to be above reproach – I said that because of her integrity, there should be an investigation so that her name will be cleared.

“I never said that I supported the allegation or otherwise, all I called for was an investigation by National Security or the BNI.

The MP for Assin Central Mr Kennedy Agyapong, during the December 2016 election campaign, accused Charlotte Osei of trading her body for her position.

Many condemned him for the comments, but the Assin Central Legislator later explained he was only joking.

However Otiko Djaba, at a party  gathering in the Eastern Region, the allegations by her colleague party member must not be taken lightly.

“We are going into an election, the referee is alleged to have something doing with one party in the game, and you say we shouldn’t find out the truth in it but rather crucify the person who made the allegation?” Otiko Djaba quizzed.
