Otto Addo eager to watch Kotoko and Hearts before predicting Ghana Premier League Champion
17th September 2024
Ghana national team coach Otto Addo has expressed his eagerness to watch Asante Kotoko and **Hearts of Oak in action before making any predictions on the next Ghana Premier League (GPL) champion.
Addo has already identified Medeama SC and FC Samartex as strong contenders for the title but is holding off on a definitive prediction until he has assessed the strength of Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, two of the country's football giants.
After witnessing Medeama's 1-0 victory over Legon Cities, Addo shared his thoughts: "From what I saw from Medeama and also Samartex, they are doing well.
So maybe it's among these two, but I haven't seen all the matches, so I'm eager also to watch Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, and all the good teams, and then we'll see."
Addo is keen on attending more GPL matches this season, both to observe the league and scout local talent for the Black Stars.
However, he emphasized that it’s still too early for him to make any final predictions on the league title race.
The Black Stars coach has already observed Samartex, the reigning GPL champions, in their Ghana Super Cup victory over Nsoatreman and Medeama's penalty shootout loss to Basake Holy Stars in the Apinto Cup.
Addo's attention will soon shift to Ghana's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, as the national team faces a challenging doubleheader against Sudan.
After a slow start, with only one point from their first two games, the Black Stars will be looking to bounce back and keep their qualification hopes alive.
