Ghana head coach Otto Addo has emphasized that the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan in October are critical, must-win encounters for the Black Stars.

The team, currently without a victory in their first two games of the 2025 qualifiers, has only managed to secure a single point during the September international window.

With four matches remaining, the four-time African champions face a daunting challenge to revive their qualification hopes.

Addo has made it clear that nothing short of a win in the next match, which will be played in Accra, will suffice.

"It will be difficult again. I knew from the start, it's just some little margins, little details which can decide," Addo reflected following the 1-1 draw against Niger.

"This will be, again, a crucial match for us. We have to win; there is no way around it."

He added, "If we want to have the chance to play better in future matches, we must win. We are under pressure, that is for sure, and we have to do better."

Ghana's road to qualification became more challenging after a surprising 1-0 loss to Angola in Kumasi, marking their first home defeat in Kumasi in 24 years.

The Black Stars will need to find form quickly to keep their AFCON 2025 dreams alive.
