Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has assured fans that Ghana will be a much-improved side by the time the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off next summer in North America.

His comments come in the wake of a disappointing November international window, where the four-time African champions suffered back-to-back defeats — a 2-0 loss to Japan in Nagoya and a narrow 1-0 defeat to South Korea in Seoul.
Speaking to the press after Tuesday’s match, Addo acknowledged the team’s current shortcomings but remained optimistic about the months ahead.

“For the World Cup, there are still some months to go for us to improve,” he said. “Surely also in all aspects — in pressing and creating chances, but also not allowing chances — there's still room to improve, especially for Ghana.”

Addo also praised the quality of their Asian opponents, noting the tactical evolution of both sides.
“I can't speak too much about South Korea because, like I said, they did well today. But Japan is on a very high level.”

With several key players missing during the tour — including Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Jordan Ayew — the Black Stars used the friendlies to test new options and build squad depth.

The team will regroup in March 2026 to resume preparations, but before then, Ghana will learn its World Cup group-stage opponents when the official draw is held on December 5.
