Parliament to approve Ken Agyapong’s sanctions today

Parliament has met today to consider and approve the report of the Privileges Committee that recommended sanctions against the Assin Central Member of Parliament(MP), Kennedy Agyapong.
The Privileges Committee chaired by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, has recommended to the plenary to reprimand or suspend the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for the rest of “this Session”.
The Committee arrived at this decision after finding Mr. Agyapong to have been in contempt of Parliament for the remarks he made that “Parliament is cheap” and “Parliament is useless”.
A number of business are on the desk for parliament to consider before rising today including the the Luxury Vehicle Levy Bill, expected to be passed later today [Saturday].
The House is expected to rise for a two month break today.
Meanwhile, Parliament yesterday[Friday] passed the four tax amendments to reflect the reality of government policy as announced in the mid-year budget review.
The Bills are the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) Amendment Bill, The National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) Amendment Bill, The Income Tax Amendment Bill and the Value Added Tax Amendment Bill.
