Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid 4-2 (AET) in the UEFA  Super Cup in Tallinn on Wednesday evening.

As part of the triumphant team, Thomas Partey has become the first Ghanaian  footballer in history to win the coveted trophy.

Ibrahim Tanko and Christian Gyan attempted in the 1997 and 2001 editions with Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively but failed to win the title.

Diego Costa’s early strike was cancelled by Karim Benzema after 27minutes. Sergio Ramos shot Real Madrid into the lead from the penalty spot before Diego Costa pulled parity with his second on the night.

Partey was however introduced into the game in extra time and made an instant impact by setting up Saúl who scored a spectacular volley to register his side’s third.
