Persons in the Sekyere Kumawu district of the Ashanti region have been advised to participate in governance as good citizens of the country.

Celebrating the constitution week and emphasizing on the 2021 National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) theme " we are one, Ghana first", the Sekyere Kumawu team led by Mr. Raymond Adusei Agyekum (SCEO) engaged the populace of Onwamu and imbued in them, the values and identities of a citizen of Ghana.

The NCCE nationwide has been observing a week long activity as part of the 2021 Annual Constitution Week celebration to commemorate the country's decision to replace military governance with a constitutional rule.

Mr. Raymond Adusei Agyekum (SCEO) and Elizabeth Botchway (CFO) informed the populace of their rights and responsibilities as citizens as captured in the chapter five of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

The office further engaged selected identifiable groups in Kumawu, Besoro and Bodomase Market women association, GPRTU- Bodomase as well as hairdressers association of Kumawu all in the bid to encourage them to continue defending the constitution of the Republic at all times by acting in accordance with the principles and tenets of the constitution.

In all, it was a successful journey the office embarked on .

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the team to visit some schools in the District to engage pupils as part of the citizenship week celebration to continue the Commission's drive "catch them young" to ensure they are informed of their roles and responsibilities as citizens of Ghana.
